Deborah Carè participates in the roundtable
Gli stati generali dell’educazione, l’arte come metodo didattico
Friday 11 February 2011, 4.00 pm
Rome, sala Pietro da Cortona, Campidoglio

Deborah Carè, as director of Fondazione Ermanno Casoli, has been invited to participate in the roundtable on Gli stati generali dell’educazione, l’arte come metodo didattico (The states general of education, art as a learning method) taking place Friday 11 February at 4-00 pm, in the sala Pietro da Cortona of the Campidoglio in Rome.
The meeting, which is open to the public, is part of Curare l’educazione? (Curate education?), a project curated by Marcello Smarrelli and Maria Rosa Sossai; this project includes artist workshops for students from three high schools in Rome, held by Tomaso De Luca, Cesare Pietroiusti and Elisa Strinna, and a final exhibition, open at Fondazione Pastificio Cerere until 4 March, presenting the outcome of these activities.

This meeting intends to offer, for the first time in Italy, a map of some of the most innovative cases of contemporary art teaching and learning through artistic production. Deborah Carè will illustrate how the meetings and the workshops with artists that the Fondazione Ermanno Casoli has been organizing with E-STRAORDINARIO, have turned out to be an effective tool to train a company’s personnel.

The roundtable’s goal is to discuss open and flexible innovative pedagogic formulas, based on the awareness and the respect of values such as democracy and solidarity. Workshops like Curare l’educazione? or E-STRAORDINARIO prove that a training potential is acquired and developed only when a direct experience is carried out, when one becomes the protagonist of a growth process.

Family, Education and Youth Officer of the Municipality of Rome Gianluigi De Palo will give an introductory speech followed by Deborah Carè’s and the other guests’ interventions: Cesare Pietroiusti (artist), Marcello Smarrelli (artistic director for Fondazione Ermanno Casoli and Fondazione Pastificio Cerere), Maria Rosa Sossai (president of esterno22), Cecilia Canziani and Ilaria Gianni (curators of Nomas Foundation), Dino Ferruzzi (manager of CRAC – Centro Ricerca Arte Contemporanea del Liceo Artistico Statale Bruno Munari, Cremona), Giorgina Bertolino (art historian and in charge of the training of Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo’s cultural mediators), Marcella Anglani (lecturer of Ultime Tendenze delle Arti Visive at Accademia di Brera e and founder of Trama 21 collective), Alberto Garutti (artist and lecturer, professor at Accademia di Brera and teaching Arte 2 at the Faculty of Architecture in Venice, IUAV).

During the roundtable Anton Giulio Onofri’s video on Curare l’educazione? will be projected.

Free entrance, limited seats available.
