Agìta – Istruzioni per un’agenda non funzionale is the title that artist Cesare Pietroiusti gave to the workshop he conceived and led. It was divided into two steps with fifteen participants supported by the curator and the trainer; they included entrepreneurs and managers from the mechanic industry in the Ancona province, as well as representatives from the local public administration cultural sector.

During the first step, which took place at Pinacoteca Civica in Jesi, the artist held a workshop which purpose was removing the rational and emotional blockages that hold back creativity. During the second step, which took place at Confindustria Ancona headquarters, participants were given an artist book edited in thirty copies, numbered and signed, entitled Agìta, in which the contents that arose from the previous working day were collected. Pietroiusti focused on the quick and superfluous thoughts that daily cross our mind in different moments; they are difficult to recall as they do not relate to any action. The artist defines them “Non-functional thoughts” and he has been collecting them for years in the website pensierinonfunzionali.net he specifically created to set them.

Agìta, a non-functional organizer, is the tool to note down one’s own “non-functional thoughts”; this is done in a dedicated spot at the end of the organizer, in which the “non-functional thoughts” arisen during the workshop were documented, according to the means and methods participants deemed adequate. This section also included the thoughts that Cesare Pietroiusti has collected for the last thirty years.
