Marcello Smarrelli, artistic director of Fondazione Ermanno Casoli, and Deborah Carè, brand marketing manager of the Fabriano based company Elica, have been invited to participate in the convention entitled Comunicare il Contemporaneo (To communicate the contemporary), taking place Saturday 20 November 2010 in Florence.

The initiative, free and open to the public, is organized by EX3 – Centro per l’Arte contemporanea, on the occasion of Florens 2010 – Settimana Internazionale dei Beni Culturali e Ambientali, an extremely prestigious venue that every two years invites the representatives of the world’s governments and main cultural institutions to discuss and outline new ideas and projects concerning art heritage and landscape, two key issues for economic development and social wellness.

The bond between industry and contemporary art is an increasingly studied subject, revealing how these two worlds that may appear distant, actually share a philosophy grounded in common concepts like innovation, creativity, vision and outlook on the future.

Such considerations have increased interest towards initiatives involving art and industry – initiatives that must however respect the mutual independence of the two fields in order to avoid the distortion of their identities.

Over the last few years Fondazione Ermanno Casoli has established a relation with Elica, mainly based on training projects for the introduction of art into the company, some of which have become case studies. This is why the foundation and Elica represent a point of reference for innovation, training, and corporate social responsibility.

Marcello Smarrelli will address the value of the relation between art and enterprise. Deborah Carè will explain the reasons that induced the company to choose art as a means of development and innovation, not only involving the product but investing on the whole organization system.
