Pescecappa x Pescetrullo is the title that artist Gaetano Pesce gave to the project commissioned by FEC and curated by Marcello Smarrelli in collaboration with Elica and Caterina Tognon Arte Contemporanea; it was presented at Elica’s Showroom on the occasion of the Milan Salone Internazionale del Mobile 48th edition on April 22-27 2009.

The artist proposed a new image of the suctioning hood starting from its previous version: the chimney hood. Actually Pescecappa is a suctioning hood prototype, the first sample of a series of fiveteen pieces numbered and signed by the artist, that was conceived for Pescetrullo kitchen, which is a ground-breaking, unusual living space that Caterina Tognon realized in the Apulia countryside. The original project was made by the very Gaetano Pesce. Simple products are the hood main components: vegetables, fruit and legumes that represent the bond with the land, by keeping simple yet old flavors and smells, which symbolize a healthy and environment-friendly life.

The hood designed by Gaetano Pesce was shown in the exhibition Cucine & Ultracopri at Triennale in Milan, during Expo 2015. Pescecappa is included in the Collezione Farnesina Design, a collection of Italian company and designer products that was founded to give an international reach to the cultural aspect of the Italian design and is exhibited at the Italian Ministry of External Affairs.
